Faux Letterpress!

Hello and happy weekend to you all, hope you are all enjoying a beautiful day, I am currently on a 5 day working stint and at present, am home for lunch, so I thought that I would pop in with a card share for you, something I made quickly the other day and have not shared with you all.

We have all seen how Jennifer McGuire uses embossing folders to create a beautiful technique called Faux Letterpress and I was sitting in the chair the other night just surfing the net and the idea of this came to my mind for making a card, seeing as I just recently purchased a Sizzix Embossing Folder I wondered even though it was a really deep impression one would it actually work on that folder. So venturing into the craft room to find out and well this is what it ended up looking like...Thrilled!

Taking the embossing folder and inking up one of the sides of the embossing folder, I placed a piece of trimmed white card stock into the folder, running it back and forth a few times in my Cuttlebug to get a good impression of ink, (unfortunately, you need to be careful when taking it out of the folder as to not get ink on fingers and touch your creation like I did, little finger mark on the card, but hey we all look for that handmade imperfection look, RIGHT???) I then took some felt and ran it through my Cuttlebug also, cutting out the Memory Box Darla butterfly, uber pretty butterfly, added the body to the main wings with Glossy Accents. Next, I trimmed more white card stock stamped a sentiment and adhered to the embossed card stock, along with a small strip of Earth Layering paper just under the white card stock. Adhering all this to the front of a trimmed white card, along with the felt butterfly, finishing the card by adding three pearls near the sentiment and also along the body of the butterfly.

These types of cards, are great to punch out as gift sets as they are so quick and easy, all you need to do is change out sentiments or embellishments.

Alrighty, that is all for today, hope you enjoy viewing the card, time for me to head back to work...

One Sweet Chick!

Happy Wednesday to you all, it is that time of the week once again and it is the start of a new challenge over at Simon Says, this week is an Anything Goes week, so that means anything that you create you can enter...

This week the DT gals are creating projects using My Favourite Things products..

Knowing that Easter is only just around the corner and realising that I need to post a couple of presents to my beautiful niece and nephew, I decided to kill two birds with the one stone and create a cute Easter card.

A pretty simple design that I wanted to keep soft in colours, so by using lots of paper from my all time favourite pattern paper company, My Minds Eye, I trimmed a piece slightly smaller then the card front, sewing around the edge and adhering to a trimmed white card. I used my Cuttlebug and trimmed out a circle along with using the Fresh Cut Grass die, cutting piece of grass that I attached to the bottom of the cut circle. Next, I stamped the sweet little girl from One Sweet Chick also from My Favourite Things onto white card stock as well as re stamping her onto more pattern paper, colouring the girl in on the card stock and trimming only the dress out of the pattern paper, paper piecing this onto the main coloured image, I trimmed her out and adhered to the circle using foam dimensionals. Finishing the card by stamping a sentiment onto a piece of white card stock, cutting a V in one end, adhering this to the top of the card and completing with a row of pearls.

I hope that this card inspires you all to break out those Easter stamps and create those Easter cards.

Be sure to click on the blinkie to see the details of the Challenge along with the Fab DT projects.

The fabulous and sweet Heidi will offer $50 to the lucky winner too, so start getting your projects created.

Okay, I am off to watch some TV and relax..

Dictionary Flower!

Hello friends...overcast and cool day here at the cottage, nice day to stay in and craft..well that is until I need to head to work...

Today I wanted to share my third creation of the three cards I created the other day using the Studio Calico Kit for March...not so much of a collage card this time but still a fun card and simple design too...

I used white card stock as the card base, corner rounding the top two corners, adding layers of pattern paper from the kit along with Kraft card stock, that I cut a V into one end. I then punched out several layers of dictionary paper with a flower punch, adhered the flowers together with a stitched brad, along with a dusting of Vintage Photo to the edges of the petals and added this to the card with foam dimensionals. Finishing the card by adding rhinestones either side of the flower and added a sentiment stamped onto white card stock.

Well I hope that this card brings some cheer to your day and some inspiration..

I am off to hang out some washing and hit the craft room...

Have a fabulous day!

Hugs
