Today I have made a card that uses paper piecing, I wanted to enter this flower card into the Moxie Fab World competition but ran out of time to put it together, so I thought that I would share it with you today. I have to also thank Cath Edvalson for the shout out on her blog for my little tree card that I entered into the Moxie Fab World, Picking Up Pieces competition, and to thank everyone that has left a comment on my blog congratulating me. Lastly, Congratulations to all the winners of the competition, you work was so creative and beautiful.
So onto today's card, I started with a white card, cut to size and folded in half and set aside, I then cut a pink and cream piece of card stock slightly smaller then the card, I distressed each of the sides of the card stock with my scissors and then took my Ranger, Distress Ink, Antique Linen and blended over the edges of the cream card stock. I then took paper from the My Minds Eye, Quite Contrary Collection and stamped Hero Arts, Big Flowers Pattern, Flower onto 3 different pattern papers from the collection, I also stamped leaves from the same stamp set onto some patterned paper from the same collection, I cut each of the leaves and flowers out, making sure to cut one flower smaller then the other, I added some Glossy Accents to the largest flower, once this was dry I used foam dimensionals to add height between each flower and added a button to the centre of the flower. The flower was assembled and using some Ranger, Distress ink, Victorian Velvet I added some blending to the outer edges of the flower and set aside to dry. I then cut a strip of green card stock to form a stem and used some Ranger, Distress Ink, Forest Moss to change the colour to a deeper green, I also added the same ink to the leaves. I assembled the flower onto the cream card stock using some foam dimensionals and added the stem and leaves also. I added a sentiment to the bottom of the cream card stock using Hero Arts, Thoughtful Messages stamp set, stamped with some Colorbox Ink, Muted Moods, Antique Pewter. I adhered both cream and pink card stocks to the white card and then felt that the card was missing something so I added some stamping to form a background using, Hero Arts, Be Happy, Bee Trail stamping it with some Colorbox Ink, Muted Moods, Dusty Plum and lastly, adding some pearls to finish the card. Here is another view of the card.
I hope you enjoy today's card and that you find some inspiration to try out the technique using paper piecing, it really is a lot of fun and gives your card another aspect.Have a great Thursday and I will hopefully catch you all tomorrow!
Don't forget that you can ask me anything, just check out my side bar for Formspring and ask away, well within reason........LOL.
Have fun!
